Whole grain SOURDOUGH
Many sourdough breads include additives to give them their sourness. Our Whole Grain Sourdough is a real sourdough—its sour flavor comes entirely from our pure strain of Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis sourced from the UC Davis Food Science and Technology department.
As with many of our breads, we also add about an ounce of ground flaxseed to each loaf which provides a healthy dose of omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids. And while we use whole-grain flour (meaning that the germ and bran is milled along with the grain), our Whole Grain Sourdough is not crunchy or grainy, making it a favorite of parents and kids alike.
Pairs well with just about anything.
Each 28-ounce "pullman-style" loaf is made with: Whole-grain wheat flour milled in Yolo County from Sacramento Valley grain, water, sourdough starter, ground flax, yeast and salt.
